ABSTRACT

Tibetan medicine Edgeworthia gardneri is the flower bud of Edgeworthia gardneri, mainly distributed in the eastern Tibet as well as the northwest and west parts of Yunnan. It is called one of the " Eighteen treasures of Qinghai-Tibet" and has been used in many Tibetan secret recipes for a long time. Nowadays, the local people often drink E. gardneri Meisn tea for blood glucose regulation and health care. In this study, the related papers were searched in CNKI, Wanfang, Weipu, PubMed and other databases by using the keywords " Lv luo hua" and " flower of E. gardneri Meisn" . Then the status quo of the flower of E. gardneri was summarized from three aspects: provenance, chemical compositions and extraction method, as well as efficacy and function. It is found that E. gardneri mainly contains coumarins, flavonoids, polysaccharides and polyphenols. The extraction methods of E. gardneri include ultrasonic extraction, microwave extraction, supercritical CO2 extraction, and bio-enzyme-assisted extraction method, et al. The extraction of flavonoids and polyphenols is more common. In terms of medicinal efficacy, it has many medicinal effects such as regulating blood sugar, lowering blood fat, anti-oxidation, enhancing immunity and anti-tumor. The flower of E. gardneri has broad pharmacological effect, attracting more and more scholars to research it. However, studies on its medicinal effectiveness both at home and abroad are mainly focusing on it' s crude extractions or extracts, with no in-depth studies on action mechanism. This review aims to summarize the provenance, main chemical compositions and extraction methods, efficacy and effect of the flower of E. gardneri, especially focusing on the research on the medicinal efficacy and mechanism of the flower of E. gardneri, and provide a reference for the further research of the flower of E. gardneri.

ABSTRACT

Objective Less research has been done in the influence of two-child pohcy on mode of delivery. The article aimed to investigate the rates of cesarean section before and after two-child policy along with indications and complications in order to provide scientific basis and solution for improving the vaginal delivery rate. Methods Retrospective analysis was conducted on medical record data of 7044 puerperas in Nanjing General Hospital of Nanjing Military Region before (3,526 women from January 1,2012 to December 31,2013)and after (3,518 women from January 1,2015 to December 31,2016) two-child policy. Before the two child policy there were 3122 primiparas and 404 multiparas, after two-child policy there were 2546 primiparas and 972 muhiparas.Comparison was done between two groups in the aspect of vaginal delivery rate, cesarean section rate and the distribution of primiparas in choosing the mode of delivery. Results The vaginal birth rate of women before and after the policy was 59.22% and 63.22% respectively, among which the rate of vaginal delivery of primiparas increased dramatically from 60.57% before the policy to 66.10% after the policy(P<0.05).After two-child policy, the primiparas cesarean section indication with social factors, macrosomia decreased, which was 12.67% vs 5.68%、16.65% vs 11.82%,respectively.However,the rate of cesarean section with in-vitro fertilization increased, which was 5.52% and 10.10% respectively (P < 0.05).Conclusion After two-child policy, the puerperant, especially for the primiparas were more likely to choose vaginal spontaneous delivery. At the same time, the proportion of the primiparas caesarean section also changed. The mode of delivery should depend on corresponding indications properly.

ABSTRACT

Ochratoxin A (OTA) is a toxic secondary metabolite mainly produced by Aspergillus and Penicillium species, with strong renal toxicity, teratogenic, carcinogenic, mutagenic effect. Studies have shown that OTA is not only widely contaminated in food and feed crops, but also has been widely contaminated in Chinese herbal medicines such as spices, licorice and so on. In view of OTA's universality and harmfulness, this paper summarizes the flow visualization test strip, microsphere, electrochemical sensor, surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy technology in OTA rapid detection, which provides reference for the research and application of high throughout detection instrument miniaturization in order to achieve OTA quick detection and simple operation.

ABSTRACT

With the development of living condition, more and more people tend to show unique personality, thus hair dyes as hair cosmetics are highly favored. By the year 2012, the global sales of hair dye had exceeded $15 billion, with a sustained growth at a rate of 8%-10% annually. However, the harm caused by long-term use of hair dyes has aroused widespread public concern, so people begin to seek non-toxic or low toxic natural plant hair dyes. The types of commonly used hair dyes and the corresponding dyeing mechanisms were summarized in this manuscript, and the representative natural botanic dyes were listed. Thereafter, their effective fractions, constituents and application status were described. In addition, the values of botanic hair dyes and their broad market prospect were discussed. Finally, the problems that exist in the research and development of plant hair dyes were issued. This review may help to provide thought for developing novel, green and ecological natural plant hair dyes.

ABSTRACT

The concentrations of berberine (BBR) and 8-cetylberberine (8-BBR-C16) in rat plasma and tissue were determined by RP-HPLC. Both the plasma pharmacokinetics characteristic and tissue distribution differences of BBR and 8-BBR-C16 were compared to provide experimental data for the mechanism research and further drug development. After the oral administrations of BBR and 8-BBR-C16 at the dose of 80 mg x kg(-1) for rats, the pharmacokinetics result showed that compared with BBR, the C(max) and AUC(0-t), of 8-BBR-C16 increased by 2.8 times and 12.9 times respectively, t1/2 extended from 3.61 h to 11.90 h. The tissue distribution result showed that compared with BBR, the concentration of 8-BBR-C16 in various organizations increased and the retention time extended remarkably. The maximum concentration was achieved in lung and the highest concentration in it was 3 731.82 ng x g(-1). After being derived, the C(max) in plasma and bioavailability of 8-BBR-C16 increased remarkably and the circulation time in vivo extended. The drug concentration in tissue increased remarkably, and the distribution ratio changed too, with strong targeting selection in lung.
